Bel-Air wool overcoat

A long overcoat in a double-faced wool, which is two woven cloths bonded and then split and hand-stitched at every edge, so the coat needs no lining and shows the same cloth inside and out. That construction is why it is light for its warmth and why the seams are visible as a fine stitch line rather than hidden. It closes with a single covered button at the waist and falls straight from a slightly extended shoulder to just below the knee. Two welt pockets, set at an angle you can actually reach. It is the most expensive thing we make and the one we most expect to see repaired rather than replaced; the stitch can be redone.
