Perrin ribbed column dress

A long column dress knitted in a 2x2 rib from extra-fine merino, so it holds a straight line without clinging. The neck stands about four centimetres and folds once; the sleeves are set narrow and finish at the wrist bone. Because the rib is fine rather than chunky it layers under a coat without bulk at the shoulder, which is the whole point of a knitted dress in November. The hem sits at the ankle and has a side vent of 14 cm so the stride is not shortened. Merino is 18.5 micron, which is the grade that stops most people finding wool itchy at the neck. Hand wash or wool cycle, dry flat; it will not need pressing.
